iGrok 1.3

iGrok is a tool inspired by Nonviolent Communication (NVC) principles developed by Marshall B. Rosenberg. It provides practical resources for enhancing self-awareness and fostering connections with others. iGrok incorporates the complete NVC model/process of "honesty and empathy," prioritizing empathy to cultivate a deep presence both with oneself and others in interpersonal exchanges. The practice of empathy significantly impacts the quality of communication, encouraging dialogue and setting the stage for innovative problem-solving.

The NVC model encourages empathetic listening, which involves tuning into an individual's emotions, needs, and desires for personal fulfillment. This application features a comprehensive list of 128 feelings words and 118 needs words, aiding users in establishing empathetic connections. Additionally, it offers examples illustrating how to frame sentences effectively when expressing empathy, honesty, or engaging in self-reflection.

Developed in collaboration with Christine King and Jean Morrison of communicateforlife.com, iGrok offers various tools such as GROK (consisting of 15 interactive games utilizing two card decks containing feelings and needs words), Magnetic GROK (featuring 180 feelings and needs magnets suitable for metal surfaces), Communication FUNdamentals (an illustrated primer on NVC), GROKit! (a manual comprising facilitator instructions and 150 NVC-related games and exercises), with more developments underway.
